Save the Children
Child education and food safety
Supporting Save the Children since 2012
Since 2012, Safe Bag has partnered with Save the Children to support a food education and safety project in the Tigray region of Ethiopia.
In Ethiopia, 44% of the population live below the poverty line and more than 84% live in rural areas. In the Tigray region, where Save the Children is running its project, agricultural production is considerably limited by the alternation of long waves of drought and unpredictable, intense rainfall.
Children often do not attend school in order to help their families. Educational services are few and not always of quality
Thanks to Safe Bag’s contribution, Save the Children will be able to:
- Ensure access to a fair basic education for children in rural areas who are not enrolled in school, with particular attention to children with disabilities and girls;
- Contribute to improving food security for the poorest families, improving their economic selfsufficiency and promoting alternative income opportunities.
Overall, the project aims to reach approximately 800 children/students, over 500 adults and more than 440 families of farmers.
