Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport is Madrid’s main airport, located about 12 km northeast of the city center. It is the largest airport in Spain in terms of passenger traffic.

TRAFFIC: In 2024, approximately 66.2 million passengers passed through Madrid-Barajas, marking a 9.9% increase compared to 2023.

VECTORS: It is a major operational hub for Iberia and Air Europa. A total of 84 airlines operate to and from Madrid, including Avianca, American Airlines, Ryanair, easyJet, RAM, and Emirates.

DESTINATIONS: It offers connections to many major European cities (Athens, Brussels, Rome, London, Paris, Prague, Lisbon) and long-haul routes such as Bangkok, Bogotá, Lima, Havana, Santiago, Miami, Buenos Aires, Montreal, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Shenzhen, and Tokyo.

DEVELOPMENTS: Terminal 4 and its satellite (T4S) have significantly increased the airport’s capacity, providing additional availability for about 35 million passengers per year. In 2024, a record number of passengers was registered; Aena is planning new investments (DORA 2027–2031 plan) to adapt the infrastructure to the growing demand.
